1 . Private Preschool

A new preschool and day care broke ground last month and will open in June. The Primrose School is a private preschool with more than 150 locations across the U.S. The school is located at 910 N. Vista Ridge. Call 1-800-PRIMROSE or visit www.primroseschools.com for more information.

2. Spring Hill Restaurant

The Commons at Buttercup Creek shopping center at US 183 and Buttercup Creek will welcome a new tenant. Spring Hill Restaurant will open its fourth Austin area location in the old La Fiesta space. Known for their fried catfish, Spring Hill offers entrees like shrimp, chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. Owner Carroll Humphrey said he has been looking at a location in Cedar Park for three to four years and is excited to open early next month.

3. Bikes for Area Kids

Shooters Billiards, in the Railyard Shopping Center, 601 E. Whitestone Blvd., worked with the Hill Country Christmas Bureau and Blue Santa to purchase 100 bikes for Cedar Park and Leander children. Customers, employees and friends contributed. The bikes were presented, Dec. 14.

4. New Breakaway Park Tenants

A new periodontist and oral surgeon opened their offices last month in Breakaway Park at 209 Denali Pass. Dr. David Reeves, Ste. A, offers periodontal services and Dr. Gary Reinhardt, Ste. B, offers oral surgery, removal of impacted teeth, implant placement and digital radiography. 5. Fitness for Women

Owner Suzanne Brown changed the name of ShapeXpress fitness center to Cypress Creek Fitness for Women. The center located across from Austin Community College at 1540 Cypress Creek Road offers kickboxing, yoga, belly dancing, Pilates, boot camp, massages, tanning and a sauna. 6. Waterloo Ice House

Waterloo Ice House will open a new location soon in Avery Ranch. The breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurant will offer burgers, chicken and hill country platters in The Plaza at Avery Ranch, at the northwest corner of Avery Ranch Boulevard and Parmer Lane. National Night Out

The Cedar Park Police Department and the City of Cedar Park received an award last month recognizing the city’s support and participation in the annual National Night Out event held in August. Cedar Park had more than 3,000 residents participating in 41 block parties and other events last year. The city placed sixth in the national standings and third in Texas. NNO is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and strengthen neighborhood spirit. Visit www.natw.org for more information.
