1. Senior assistance

Formerly located at 1501 Serene Park Drive, Visiting Angels has relocated to 921 W. New Hope Drive, Bldg. 6, Ste. 601. 2. Rockin’ wear

3. Silver and gold

A jeweler for 35 years, Ernesto Martinez opened his Affordable Jewelry Repair shop at 605 N. Bell Blvd., Ste. 103. Offering men’s and women’s jewelry, custom design and repair, the store operates Mon.-Fri. 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat. 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Call 331-4653.

4. Chocolatey goodness

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory re-opened at 1435 E. Whitestone Blvd., Ste. S150 in 1890 Ranch under new ownership during the first week of April. Dave and Minda Ott own five of the chocolate stores in Texas that offer fine gourmet chocolate, hand-dipped caramel apples and handmade fudge. 5. New doctor’s office

6. Money matters

8. Up top

The City of Cedar Park celebrated the topping-out of the Cedar Park Center April 9. The event celebrates the placing of the final beam onto the roof of the structure, which is on the northwest corner of Toll 183A and New Hope Drive. The CPC will be a multi use facility with 6,800 seats available for hockey and 8,700 for concerts and other events. The center is scheduled to open in October. Call 401-5000.

Leander

9. Detour

Bagdad Road will be closed for construction between Old 2243 and North Creek Boulevard beginning April 27. Old 2243 will remain open to two-way traffic. The city plans to complete the project by the end of September. The construction schedule is tentative and subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances. 10. Pizza and beer

Southern’s Pizza & Sports Pub, 1805 S. US 183, Ste. 400, plans to open in mid-April offering handmade pizza cooked in brick ovens, beer, wine, submarine sandwiches, salads and chicken wings. Owner Ben Southern will open at 11 a.m. daily and will set closing times depending on patronage. Call 259-2699.

11. Gears grinding?

Pit Road Automotive and Bear’s Small Engine celebrated a grand opening at 9220 FM 2243 April 4. The shop services foreign and domestic vehicles as well as lawn mowers, golf carts and chain saws, conducts inspections and changes oil in addition to numerous other services for small engines, radiators and transmissions. 12. Citizen patrol

The Leander Police Department, 705 Leander Drive, is accepting applications for the 2009 Citizen’s Police Academy. Participants in this free program learn about law enforcement topics including criminal law, use of force, officer survival, criminal investigation, community policing, traffic stops and firearms training. Applicants must be Leander residents older than 18 with no felony convictions. The CPA will meet Mondays from 6-9 p.m. May 11-July 13, with no class May 25 and an additional class July 7. 13. Howling for food

Benjamin and Maria Cruz opened El Coyote the last week of March at 109 N. US 183. The Mexican food restaurant features a breezy patio and full bar. The hours are 7 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week. Call 259-9198.

14. Café reopens

Moody’s Café, N. US 183, is now open under new ownership. Mark and Estela Lingard offer old-fashioned, county meals, including breakfast items that can be ordered any time of the day. Dining hours are 6 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week, and breakfast items are served all day. Call 260-6300.The café also hosts Texas Friendly Defensive Driving School from noon-6 p.m. on the first and third Saturday of the month. The $35 tuition for the class includes a Moody’s meal. 15. Free resumes

Responding to workforce woes in a bad economy, PostNet, a printing and shipping company, is offering free resume printing to unemployed residents of Leander. The store is located at 651 N. International Student Exchange, a nonprofit, seeks families in LISD to host exchange students for a semester or school year. Families may request a male or female student and a specific home country, and are asked to provide the student with a place to sleep and meals in the home. Local magician Chris Walden now offers paranormalist services, including Ghost Dinners where he shares techniques for creating otherwordly experiences.
