1. Ice cream feeds hungry
Baskin-Robbins celebrated a grand opening May 7 at 9900 W. Parmer Lane. To show their commitment to the community, franchisees Don and Concetta Raymond pledged to support homeless outreach group Mobile Loaves and Fishes for the month of May. Customers who mention “Mobile Loaves and Fishes” any time during May will have 10 percent of their bill donated to the organization. 2. Keep the weight off
Medifast Weight Control Centers opened its latest location April 20 in 1890 Ranch, 1465 E. Whitestone Blvd. The business offers weight loss services, meal plans and in-body analysis. Jacobs and Son, Inc., a Cedar Park business since 1995, recently bought their property at 1408 N. Bell Blvd., with help from a small business loan. 4. Rock the prints

5. Indulge yourself
Simply Utopia Salon and Spa, 251 N. Bell Blvd., Ste. 101A in Cedar Park, opened March 7. Michele Lowry, a massage therapist, offers her customers a full array of spa services, including styling, coloring, massage, waxing, body scrubs and facials. Two stylists, a therapist and an esthetician serve customers Monday through Saturday. To celebrate its opening, management is offering gift certificate bonus buys during May. Call 219-5645.
6. Pampered pets
Area pet owners can find holistic, all-natural and organic products for their animals at Whiskers N Tails, 1525 Cypress Creek Road, Ste. I. Owners Kelly and Gary Williamson opened the shop April 25 and offer a variety of goods, including food, novelties, toys, locally made treats, pet wear, supplements and grooming products. 7. Fine art classes
The Studio, formerly The Art Center at Dragonfly Pond, moved May 1 to its new location 715 Discovery Blvd., Bldg. 1, Ste. 120. 8. Therapy and relaxation
N8 Touch Massage, which offers massage and chiropractic adjustments, opened April 4 at 1525 Cypress Creek Road, Ste. D in Cedar Park. 9. A taste of Mexico
For a change from Tex-Mex food, visit Taco Real, 1335 E. Whitestone Blvd. in the 1890 Ranch shopping center. The first of its kind in Cedar Park, the Mexico City-inspired fast-food restaurant opened May 2. Tortillas and salsa are made fresh on site and dishes are accented with authentic toppings, such as queso fresco. Open daily 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Call 986-7153.
10. Thai and Chinese combo
Thai Bowl Café, a Thai and Chinese restaurant, opened May 2 at 202 Walton Way at the Shops at Whitestone in Cedar Park. In addition to Thai and Chinese classics, guests can enjoy Thai noodles, traditional soups and unique rice dishes. To celebrate its grand opening, management is offering a 15 percent discount on all menu items through the end of May. 11. Charged up
BatteriesPlus’ newest location, 12129 N. FM 620, Ste. 10, opened recently. The store offers hard-to-find batteries, free recycling of old electronic devices and used batteries, watch batteries and corporate accounts. BatteriesPlus stocks more than 1,000 models of batteries and has overnight access to more than 10,000, some of which fit 20-year-old electronics. 12. Doughnuts and ice cream
A new Krispy Kreme store scheduled to open in July will offer more than doughnuts, kolaches and coffee. The location, 401 Whitestone Blvd., Ste. 800 in the Whitestone Plaza shopping center, will be the first Krispy Kreme in Texas to offer a dual-concept store. Snoops, a mold-inspecting beagle from the Canine Academy Training Center at 13420 Cedar Lime Road, helped during the filming of the documentary “Black Mold.” Snoops and Lisa Caughlin, owner of the full-service dog training facility, also appeared in the film, which debuted in Austin on April 29 at the Dobie Theater.
