Pedernales Electric employees and PEC donated more than $310,000 to civic and charitable organizations throughout the PEC service area. PEC’s United Charities program will give to 369 qualified charities this year.
The money comes from volunteer employee payroll deductions and corporate-matched funds approved by PEC’s Board of Directors. Organizations receiving donations include libraries, churches, health and education programs, family and youth programs, animal services, volunteer fire departments and emergency medical services.
“PEC is able to help hundreds of organizations across Central Texas through the generosity of its employees,” said Kimberly Paffe, PEC senior in-house counsel. “It’s a privilege to provide support in this personal way.”
Organizations in PEC’s Cedar Park District received donations on May 14, 2009, at the district’s local PEC office. An organization must meet applicable 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) provisions of the Internal Revenue Code to receive United Charities funds.
