Cedar Park celebrates Memorial Day with “Pool-A-Palooza”
Friday, 22 May 2009
Live music, fun in the water and contests will mark the start of the summer swimming season on Memorial Day in Cedar Park.
Pool-A-Palooza, a daylong celebration of summer, will be hosted May 25 from noon-10 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Pool, 2525 W. New Hope Drive.
“Last year the public had a blast on opening day of Veterans Memorial Pool listening to live music. So this year we decided to have an event that no one else in the area does,” Cedar Park’s aquatic coordinator Bryan Reno said. “Pool-A-Palooza is a combination of all the things the local community loves: live music, art, water and fun.”
Attendees may enjoy live music, art projects, a CD toss, concessions and contests. A cannon ball contest will start at 3 p.m., and an air guitar contest at 5:30 p.m. At sundown, guests can watch the movie “Ratatouille”.
Standard pool admission fees will apply: free (children younger than 3 and veterans with military identification); $2 (4-8 years old and senior citizens); $4 (9-17 years old); $5 (adults). For details, call 331-2300.
