PEC announces results of election

Pedernales Electric Cooperative members elected three board members in this year’s election, which ended June 20 at the cooperative’s annual membership meeting in Johnson City.
Cristi Clement, District 1, filled the expiring position formerly held by Vi Cloud. Clement earned 7,713 votes, edging out Mark A. Mayfield, who received 7,605 votes for District 1. Two other candidates ran for the position.
Larry Landaker, District 6, was elected to take Val Smith’s position, which also expired. Landaker received 5,152 votes, beating five other opponents for the District 6 seat.
Patrick Cox, District 7, ran unopposed and will remain on the cooperative’s board. Cox received 16,637 votes.
Of 23,125 total votes cast, 19,315 were cast by mail, 3,723 were placed online, and 87 were cast in person at the annual meeting, according to Frank Fatone of Election Services Corporation. More than 194,000 cooperative members were eligible to vote in the election.
The new board members will begin service at 2 p.m. June 29 at an organizational meeting at the cooperative’s headquarters in Johnson City.
