AUSTINOn Feb. 18 the Austin City Council will consider an economic incentive proposal aimed at bringing the LegalZoom regional headquarters to northwest Austin.

LegalZoom is a Los Angeles-based company that provides online legal document services. According to city documents, the company plans to add 600 jobs from entry level to executive positions to its regional headquarters by 2016, using as many as 528 local hires. Fifty new jobs are expected to be added to the company in 2010 alone, with an average annual salary of $42,000. LegalZoom hopes to lease a 35,000 sq. ft. space at 10900 S. Stonelake Blvd. in Quarry Oaks for 3 to 5 years with plans to buy a facility for long-term establishment.

The council will hear public comment and a staff presentation on the economic incentives proposal at its Feb. 11 meeting. In the proposal the city agrees to pay LegalZoom $20,000 annually for 10 years so far as LegalZoom meets the required job creation goals. The council will make it’s decision at the following meeting.
