Darkness falls across the land, the midnight hour is close at hand, because this is Thriller!…. Austin-style.
Austin Mayor Will Wynn, backed by a team of dancers coordinated by the Alamo Drafthouse, will show off dance moves to Michael Jackson’s 1983 music video “Thriller” at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Austin City Hall. The presentation is in anticipation of the international “Thrill the World” event commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the release of the album “Thriller.”
“Thrill the World” is an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest synchronized “Thriller” dance on earth. Austinites will join thousands of thrill-seekers from Warsaw, Poland, to Oulu, Finland, and other cities in an effort to Thrill the World. The Austin event will be held at the City Hall Plaza at noon on Sunday, Oct. 26. Events are planned in more than 80 cities, in 12 nations and on four continents.
