1. Stroke institute to open

The Physical Medicine & Neurotoxin Institute, which offers rehabilitation and treatment to stroke victims, will open mid-August at 11851 Jollyville Road, Ste. 103. Dr. Joe Urquidez, founder of the institute, has completed a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in brain injury. Urquidez is trained in neurorehabilitation and brain injury medicine. 2. Burger joint opens

Five Guys Burgers and Fries, an East Coast born, family owned franchise, opened its second Austin location in late July in the Arboretum at Great Hills at 10000 Research Blvd. The 3,000 sq. ft. restaurant is located between Gymboree and Amy’s Ice Cream and will serve hamburgers with more than a dozen free toppings, kosher-style hot dogs and fresh-cut french fries. 3. Hookah hut added

Zakia’s Greek Cuisine, a locally owned restaurant serving traditional Mediterranean dishes, will be adding a “hookah hut” in August to its northwest Austin location at 8701 W. Parmer Lane, Ste. 1125. In addition to hookah, the hut will offer gourmet coffees and Greek pastries. The restaurant regularly features live music and belly-dancing performances on Saturday nights. 4. Indian dancing classes

Indian Bollywood dance classes are now being offered in northwest Austin. The classes, Bollywood Shake, started in May for adults only but will open to children July 25 at Tinka’s Studio, 2013 Wells Branch Parkway. Local dancer Ruchika Dias founded the Bollywood Shake dance company and will be teaching the classes along with other instructors. 5. Company refinances

Aspen Properties recently refinanced three of its office buildings in northwest Austin with $82 million in loans from Bank of America Corp. Loans for the Austin-based development company will go toward financing three properties at 8303 MoPac, Parkline and Colina West. Together, the buildings total 405,500 sq. ft. 6. Truck supply store relocates

Custom Truck Outfitters recently moved from its Cedar Park location at 604 N. Bell Blvd. to 13000 N. US 183. The store, which offers truck, SUV and auto services and accessories, recently relocated. Call 918-2345 or visit www.customtruckoutfitters.com.

7. Digestive center moves

A center focusing on the digestive system and its disorders, Digestive Center Associates, recently relocated from the Dallas/Fort Worth area to 11111 Research Blvd., Ste. 210. The center, founded by Dr. Ephraim Nsien, moved to its new location in May. Call 372-9939.

8. Restaurant celebrates

Andiamo Ristorante, located at 2521 Rutland Drive, is celebrating its fifth year in business Aug. 1. In honor of the Italian restaurant’s anniversary, all patrons that dine for dinner will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a free case of wine valued at $500. 9. Popsicle business opens

PopSoCools, a locally owned business that makes all-natural popsicles, opened in mid-June at 11800 N. Lamar Blvd. Owners Manuel Flores and his wife, Laura, started the business after selling popsicles at the Austin Farmer’s Market. The popsicles are made with fresh fruit and flavors ranging from traditional ones like strawberry and watermelon to mango chili, soy coconut and Hibiscus mint. 10. Pet grooming business opens

Clean Puppy Pet Grooming, a business offering general grooming for cats and dogs, opened in early July at 12636 Research Blvd., Ste. A-104. The business, owned by Stephanie Liao, does bathing, haircuts, nail clipping, tooth brushing and shedding services seven days a week by appointment only. Call 258-0818.

11. Roofing business opens

Ranger Roofing & Construction recently opened at 13048 Research Blvd., Ste. A. The store offers roof installation and repairs for residential and commercial properties. 12. Car dealership opens

EMotion Motor Sports, a car dealership offering pre-owned luxury cars, opened in mid-July at 12196 N. Mopac Expressway. This is the business’s first location. Call 410-7909 or visit www.emotionmotorsports.com.

13. New residential development

The Villages at The Domain, a new residential apartment complex, opened May 1 at 11011 Domain Drive. The apartments offer granite countertops, walk-in closets and amenities like a salt-water pool and 1,800 sq. ft. fitness center. A temporary leasing office for the development is located off Esperanza Crossing across from Kona Grill. The development is part of phase two of The Domain and opened in May with 27 apartment units. 14. Send it or save it

Residents who need to store belongings or send mail may visit Secured Climate Storage and Postal Center, 9311 RM 620. The 14-acre storage area has 450 climate-controlled units, space for boat or RV storage and plans to build a second building by the end of the year. The postal center offers United States Postal Service and Federal Express services, including Priority Express, domestic and international mailing; private mailbox rentals; and stamps. 15. Physical therapy school

Star Physical Therapy, which provides physical therapy and rehabilitation, will open a new center at 11101 Burnet Road, Ste. A-170, in the Austin Commons Shopping Center in late July. This is the second Star Physical Therapy location in Austin. Call 835-5000.

16. Auto service store opens

Chelsie’s Automotive, LLC opened in mid-July at 12732-A Research Blvd., in the previous Precision Tune Auto Care location. New store owner, Chelsie Andrews, worked at Precision Tune for almost 20 years before buying the storefront for his own business. He and his wife, Christine Traylor-Andrews, own the store, which offers full-service auto repair and maintenance. Call 331-5790.

17. Hearing store relocates

Miracle Ear, a hearing loss and hearing aid store, recently moved to 12129 N. FM 620, Ste. 103. The store, which moved in late June, was previously located at the Sears in Lakeline Mall. Call 258-1352 or visit www.miracle-ear.com.

18. Shelter relocates

The Austin Children’s Shelter is in the final construction phase of a new campus at 4800 Manor Road. The new, expanded facility includes five residential cottages for children and three support buildings that will allow ACS to more than double the number of children and youth it can serve as well as offer longer-term care and additional services. Fundraising is down 43 percent from last year, so only two of the cottages will be open until additional funding is received. The shelter will commemorate its 25th anniversary with the opening of the new facility in October. Visit www.austinchildrenshelter.org.
