While building colleges and universities is a laudable goal, building them far out in the countryside is not. Students are traditionally poor and typically can't afford cars to drive to those colleges. Better to have focused on constructing these establishments closer to population centers.
At least, planners should make provisions for mass transit, bicycling to those campuses, as well as facilitate comfortable walking within.
If the goal is to provide for housing on campus, there needs to be an assortment of amenities nearby....like supermarkets, cleaners, restaurants, a post office.
