A bronze steer was recently dedicated in honor of Maria de Lourdes Torres and Pablo Pachicano Torres, who immigrated from Mexico and decided that Williamson County was a place they could succeed in the leading industry at the time — agriculture. If you have not had the chance to drive down Chisholm Trail Road, it is worth seeing the early stages of a scene that eventually will depict a cattle drive with sculpted steers, cowboys and horses portraying the history of Round Rock. The area was attractive to early settlers and remains so today — although it may be attractive for different reasons.

Thousands of people are moving to the area each year and are looking for homes. I called Jeff Osborne, president at RE/MAX Capital City, to find out more information on the construction of the company’s third location on Sam Bass Road, and he told me that the only thing wrong with the Austin market is the national media.

Although building has slowed down in our community, there are still signs of expansion for some businesses as a result of our residential real estate market. We see new homes under construction in Falcon Pointe, Teravista, Arbor Place, Highland Horizons, Sendero Springs and other neighborhoods in the area. While it may be a more competitive marketplace, it seems as though Round Rock and Pflugerville are doing okay.
