The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce is hosting the biggest sampling of restaurants in town at this year’s Taste of Round Rock event. The Seventh Annual Taste of Round Rock and Chamber Auction will be held March 24 at the Dell Diamond. Gates open and bidding begins at 6 p.m., rain or shine.

The chamber auction will be surrounded by Round Rock’s unique and distinctive restaurants. This showcase will allow food lovers the chance to explore the variety of flavors local restaurants have to offer.

Writ Baese, with Hill County Payroll, is this year’s Taste of Round Rock chairman.

“I enjoy being a part of this because it is an event that the entire family will enjoy,” he said. “You can bring the kids out, walk around, have a great time in a family environment. There will be something for everyone there that night.”

With more than 40 participating restaurants and caterers, the variety of foods will range from donuts to Cajun, Mexican and Italian cuisine.

“You might even try something that you wouldn’t want to order at a restaurant because you’re not sure you’ll like it,” said Lori Petersen, vice president of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce. “The great news is you don’t have to choose — you can try it all!”

Ray Overstreet, owner of Louisiana Longhorn said the Taste of Round Rock is good for his restaurant.

“It gives us an opportunity to see old customers and meet new ones,” he said. “We get a chance to showcase new menu items, and the attendance is always very good.”

This year the auction committee is working hard to provide the attendees with a broad range of items from small gifts to trips and jewelry. The chair of the auction is Jan Thomason from Express Personnel Services.

“We are so excited about the items coming in for the auction,” Thomason said. “Companies have really been generous in donating auction items this year.”H-E-B’s Spoonz Café was a vendor at the Taste of Round Rock last year. Courtesy Round Rock Chamber of Commerce

Tom Manskey, the newly hired chamber president and CEO, is looking forward to bringing his family to their first Taste of Round Rock.

“It is a great opportunity for newcomers, as well as longtime residents, to come out to see what Round Rock has to offer in the form of dining as an entertainment,” Manskey said.

The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce hopes to raise more than $20,000 at this fundraising event. Proceeds will go to programs for local businesses.

Raffle tickets are available for $10 each for two round-trip tickets to Las Vegas, courtesy of Round Rock Travel & Tours. The drawing will be at 7:30 p.m. during the event.
