Cele store, which closed in December 2007 after 115 years in business, reopened Sept. 6 at the same location, 18726 Cameron Road. Owners Marvin and Marilyn Weiss, who announced last year that they would be retiring, decided to reopen with the help of grandson Brandon Fuchs nine months after closing the store.

Located at the corner of Cele and Cameron roads in northeast Travis County, Cele store was first established as Richland Saloon in 1891. The Weisses took over the store in 1951 and now serve brisket, sausage and ribs for lunch and dinner on Saturdays only, by reservation only so they know how much meat to cook that day.

When it was announced in November 2007 that Cele store would be closing, 175 people who secured reservations three weeks in advance ate the last barbecue served at the Cele store on its final day in business Dec. 28, 2007.

Cele store was featured in several movies, including Secondhand Lions, A Perfect World and Texas Chainsaw Massacre I, II and III.

For reservations, call 251-3562. Lunch, which does not require a reservation, is served starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays. Dinner is served from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturdays, by reservation only.
