Public assistance organizations to receive Williamson County funding
Public assistance organizations to receive Williamson County funding
By Beth Wade Wednesday, 11 March 2009
The Williamson County Commissioners voted March 10 to continue funding 18 nonprofit groups in Williamson County.
While approximately $150,000 in funds was available this year for public assistance groups, the commissioners said those funds may not be available in the future.
Precinct Four Commissioner Ron Morrison wanted to make sure the organizations know not to count on the money next year.
“This is a difficult discussion to have because the different organizations are all worthy, I believe,” said Valerie Covey, precinct three commissioner. “I think, to me, it is two-fold. What should be our policy as a court for the future, but the other is what to do right now. We should have had this discussion back in August when deliberating our budget, not in March.”
