Best Buy open at Stone Hill Town Center

Pflugerville city officials and members of the community gathered Feb. 27 to celebrate the grand opening of the city’s newest retailer. Best Buy store No. 1762, located in Stone Hill Town Center at the corner of Toll 45 and Toll 130, opened to the general public — who formed a line outside the store that stretched beyond the sidewalk — at 10 a.m. after performances by the Park Crest Middle School drum line and the Hendrickson High School jazz band.
Mayor Jeff Coleman, members of the Greater Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, Pflugerville ISD Community Partnership Coordinator Zenda Johnson, and Best Buy General Manager Marcus Jewett addressed the crowd.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Jewett presented two $5,000 checks from Best Buy to the Royal Family Kids’ Camps of Central Texas and the Boys and Girls Club of Austin.
The new 30,000 sq. ft. store has 65 employees.
“In these challenging economic times where many retailers are laying off and closing doors, we are proud to be able to open a store that will no doubt stimulate the local economy, but also provide jobs to our growing area,” Jewett said.
Coleman welcomed Best Buy to the city and said he looks forward to the residents of the community being able to stay in their own community to shop. He said the city was one of just 12 other communities in the country opening 600,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
Chik-fil-A is scheduled to open at Stone Hill March 16 and the grand opening of SuperTarget is March 8.
“It's been a long journey for us to finally be able to provide our brand of service on a more localized level to Pflugerville and we couldn't be prouder,” Jewett said.
