The Greater Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce held its 24th annual awards banquet April 2 at Star Ranch.

Among the award recipients were Eiben Insurance and Farmers Insurance, both noted as outstanding small businesses. Chief Butch Miller, Terry Struble, Kandi Cook, Gerry Rieger and Pflugerville Police Chief Chuch Hooker received the First Responders award. Atmos Energy and IESI took home the awards for large businesses of the year. The Lifetime Achievement awards went to Cook, the 2009 board chair of the GPCC, Audrey Dearing and Reiger, the 2008 board chair. The GPCC gives hosts the awards ceremony to commend various businessness. Different committees are selected each year to vote on businesses they believe deserve recognition. This year members of the Special Projects Committee, who planed the banquet and other GPCC events, voted on the recipents.

More than 200 people attended the event. Patricia Gervan-Brown, president and CEO for the GPCC said the evening was a success.

“We are lucky to have a really dynamic market,” Gervan-Brown said. “Businesses are cranking along and haven’t been as affected by the overall economy. We are all blessed to be doing business in Pflugerville.”
