Chic-fil-A opened a new stand-alone restaurant today at Stone Hill Town Center in Pflugerville. The restaurant, 18619 Limestone Commercial Drive, is one of 64 new locations that the company plans to open across the country this year. The openings will create more than 4,200 new jobs, 60 of which are at the new Pflugerville location.

The new restaurant in Pflugerville comes nearly a month after the company announced plans to test a low-fat breakfast option for health conscious consumers in the Austin area. The low-fat menu includes a fruit smoothie and a yogurt parfait, as well as a breakfast kid’s meal option and an enhanced blend of premium coffee.

Austin is one of three markets nationwide where the company will test the new products among customers.

"The Austin area demographics are perfect for this," said Mark Baldwin. "You see people running, riding bikes everywhere."

Baldwin said area stores will also test the speed of service and make sure the quality of the products are high for these new menu items. He also said the parfaits are already getting rave reviews from customers.

The test will be conducted March 30 thru May 30 at 14 select locations. All area restaurants will offer free breakfast items May 4 thru 9. Chick-fil-A will also host Cow Appreciation Day July 10, where customers who dress like a cow will receive a free meal. The company has given away over $9.1 million in free Chick-fil-A food at stand alone openings and promotional events.
