Pflugerville ISD postpones extra-curricular activities

Share |

Pflugerville ISD officials reported that there are no cases of swine flu in the district, but they will continue to take precautions against an outbreak. PISD cancelled all extra-curricular events effective immediately until May 11. The cancellation applies to facility rentals, field trips, non-district use of any facility, campus programs that involve the public and field days.

The suspension comes after news that all University Interscholastic League competitions are postponed until May 11 under the recommendation of officials at the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Education Agency.

PISD administrators also asked guests, parents and volunteers to sanitize their hands upon arrival to a campus. Guests will be restricted to use only public areas of campuses such as the cafeteria, office, foyer and luncheon areas. Other recommendations called for students to dispose of used tissues and to see a physician if they experience sudden fever, body aches, pains, coughing or fatigue.
