The Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees appointed new principals at Hendrickson and Pflugerville high schools, the Robert Provan Opportunity Center and Windermere Elementary at its May 7 workshop meeting.

Pflugerville High School Principal Larry Bradley, who has held his position since 1981, will leave the school to join the district’s central administration as director of school operations. Kirk Wrinkle, the high school’s acting principal and former assistant principal, was named Bradley’s successor.

Wrinkle served as acting principal at PHS for the 2008-2009 school year while Bradley fulfilled his term as president of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, which required him to travel extensively on behalf of the organization. From 2005-2008 Wrinkle was an assistant principal at PHS and has more than 24 years experience teaching and coaching.

Freddie McFarland will lead Hendrickson High School. He is currently serving as principal at Jarrell High School, a position he has held since 2004. McFarland previously worked in both the Kerens and Stockdale school districts as superintendent. This will be McFarland’s second stint in PISD — he was a teacher and coach in the district from 1982-1987.

Rachel Mackey, assistant principal at Pflugerville High School, was named principal at the Robert Provan Opportunity Center. Mackey has been an assistant principal at PHS since 2005. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal at Taylor High School for two years. She began her career as a teacher at PISD’s Westview Middle School in 1997 and worked at the opportunity center for three years as a teacher and administrative intern.
