Round Rock-based public relations, marketing, and advertising firm, Peer Group Concsulting, has been awarded a contract with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) to spearhead a Central Texas public awareness campaign called “Ozone Action Heroes” that empowers, educates and encourages residents and businesses to join the growing force of Ozone Action Heroes to improve regional air quality.

The purpose of this bi-lingual outreach campaign is to make citizens aware of the increased federal requirements for smog by asking them to step into action during this ozone season (April 1-Oct. 31). Ozone Action Heroes will be asked to take the “Your air. Your commitment.” pledge online at www.ozoneheroes.com and commit to at least three simple measures to improve regional air quality. Action is needed immediately because if any county in the region fails to meet the new federal requirements, consequences such as increased costs for businesses and delays in transportation projects could result.

PGC, founded by present CEO Sha Embree in 2005, is focusing its efforts on radio and online advertising in partnership with a generous hero, Austin Energy, as well as strong social media, PR and event participation. In addition, billboards and promotional products are being utilized by several Central Texas municipalities such as San Antonio, Round Rock, Austin, Pflugerville and Cedar Park.
