Round Rock ISD recognizes teachers of the year

Old Town Elementary teacher Chris Gieringer and Stony Point 9th Grade Center teacher Matt Dearmon were named Round Rock ISD’s Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year at the annual Teacher Excellence Awards reception in May. The winners were chosen based on nominations from their campuses. The goal of the awards was to recognize outstanding classroom teachers who also are able to speak for, motivate and exemplify the contributions of all teachers.

This award ceremony was held on National Teacher Appreciation Day. The RRISD Education Foundation and State Farm Insurance Companies sponsored the reception and provided campus winners with $150 and district winners with a $500 prize.
