City of Round Rock wins communications awards

The City of Round Rock won three first-place awards and two third-place awards for its communications efforts at the annual Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers conference last week in Lewisville, Texas.

Taking first place honors were the city’s website, www.roundrocktexas.gov, its video newsmagazine, City Focus, and a marketing brochure titled "Game On!" that was produced by the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The city’s employee newsletter, Rock Beats, and a video produced to communicate issues related to the proposed 2009 budget earned third-place awards.

Of the website, which competed in the population 70,000 and above category, judges said, “Clean, loads fast, e-services are clearly visible … Great site! Love it!”

Judges stated City Focus, competing in the Regular or Recurring Program population 75,000 and above category, “is an extremely professional program.”

“Great graphics and transitions,” judges said, adding there is “good, pleasing talent, and lots of creativity went into this production. The camera shots, the lighting, the topics, the hosts and the information were outstanding.”

Game On! won in the Special Publications for populations up to 100,000 category.

“This publication was very colorful and to the point with excellent design and execution,” judges said.

Since 2004, the City of Round Rock has won 11 first or second place awards in the TAMI competition.
