1. Trailer tacos

AUSTINTorchy’s Tacos opened Nov. 19 in The Shops at Arbor Trails, 4301 William Cannon Drive, Ste. 400. The restaurant has three other locations in Austin and became a local hotspot by offering original recipes and “gourmet food on a tortilla.” The taco shop also offers breakfast options and is open from Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Call 514-0767 or visit www.torchystacos.com.

2. Unique boutique

Gift and home decor store C’est Chic! opened Oct. 23 in Escarpment Village at 5800 W. Slaughter Lane, Ste. 330. The locally owned boutique offers a wide selection of affordable and unique gifts, jewelry, home accessories, stationery and wall art. Call 609-8721.

3. Bounce house

A 15,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to inflatable attractions opened at 8816 Cullen Lane at the end of October. Wazoo’s features eight inflatable attractions, including a 24-foot tall, dual-lane slide; a 70-foot long obstacle course; bounce houses; and an interactive sports zone. The location also features a toddler play area, five party/meeting rooms, a projection screen and concessions. 4. Baby shop

Buy Buy Baby, a retail store that offers clothing, toys, furniture and other supplies for babies up to 3 years old, opened at 5400 Brodie Lane, Ste. 400 in late September. 5. Money in the bank

The San Antonio-based Broadway Bank started development on its first Austin location at the intersection of Brodie and Davis lanes in November. Established in 1981, Broadway Bank is the largest independent banker in the Hill Country with 38 locations across Central Texas. 6. Gabardine Homes

Located in the Shady Hollow Neighborhood, phase one of Gabardine Homes is now open with 53 home sites. The David Weekley Homes feature two- three- and four-bedroom bungalows and flats with prices ranging from the mid-$100,000s to the low $200,000s. Each home is constructed in the craftsman style and includes a garage and fenced and irrigated yard. The gated community, located near the intersection of Brodie Lane and Frate Barker Road, also includes a private 13-acre park and will have a community pool. 7. Equip-rent

Locally owned Safeway Rental opened a new branch at 11501 Manchaca Road in late September. The company, which has been in Austin more than 50 years, rents, repairs and sells new and used construction equipment to homeowners and contractors. Georgetown-based auto repair shop Sun Auto Service will open its first Austin location before the end of the year at 405 Slaughter Lane. The auto shop specializes in offering the same level of repairs, diagnostic testing and service as automotive dealerships at discounted prices, excluding bodywork, paint and tires. 9. Manage your money

Investment firm Edward Jones will open a new location at 6001 William Cannon Drive, Ste. 304. The international investment firm offers services, including retirement plans, life insurance, estate plans and trusts, savings options and financial planning. Visit www.edwardjones.com.

10. Pharmacy under construction

The Texaco gas station at 120 W. Slaughter Lane closed this fall. Construction of a new Walgreens is scheduled to begin at the end of November at that location and should be finished within six months. Visit www.walgreens.com.

11. New school

12. Hidden treasures

13. Made in the shade

Sunshades Window Tinting opened its second Austin location in September. The shop, 115 E. St. Elmo Road, performs automotive window tinting as well as additional automobile services, including alarms, stereos, keyless entry, paint protection and cruise control. 14. Sweet treat

Locally owned cookie delivery shop Tiff’s Treats opened a new location at 3201 Bee Caves Road in Westlake Nov. 14. The business has two other Austin locations and offers homemade cookies and brownies for delivery and pickup. During the grand opening, the new location sold boxes of cookies for $3 per dozen with proceeds benefiting an Austin child involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Visit www.tiffstreats.com.

15. New support group

A new support group began meeting this month in southwest Austin. Oak Hill AL-ANON meets Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Fridays at 10 a.m. and welcomes relatives and friends of alcoholics to share their stories. The group meets at the Western Hill Church of Christ, 6211 Parkwood Drive. Call 301-2028.
