Austin Under 40 Awards announce opening of nominations

AUSTIN — The Austin Under 40 Awards Committee and Leadership Austin will be at The Belmont, 305 W. Sixth St., on Nov. 19 from 6-8 p.m. for a happy hour to kick off the opening of nominations for the 12th annual Austin Under 40 Awards.

The event will serve as an opportunity for Austinites to learn about the awards nominations process, and network with young professionals from around Central Texas. The Belmont will provide complementary appetizers and half-price drink specials.

Nominations for the Austin Under 40 Awards will run from Nov. 19 through Jan. 21. Finalists for the 2010 Austin Under 40 Awards will be announced Feb. 4 and the final awards ceremony will be held March 6 at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, 1900 University Ave.

The Austin Under 40 Awards event was founded in 1997 by the Young Men's Business League and the Young Women's Alliance in order to recognize young men and women in Austin who excel in their professional fields and make considerable contributions to their communities. Over the past 11 years, Au40 event sponsors and attendees have contributed more than $265,000 to the Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps and the YWA Foundation. In 2009 alone, Au40 raised over $65,000 for their charities.
