Satellite Bistro & Bar
Satellite Bistro & Bar

The Satellite Bistro & Bar opened in Southwest Austin near the Circle C neighborhood a year and a half ago when two brothers, Mark and Marty Kamburis, decided to follow a family tradition and own their own restaurant.
Their grandfather, who came from Patmos, Greece once had his own café in Alabama. Now the Kamburis have brought some of their grandfather’s flavors to their own Greek Americano menu, which offers a variety of entrees for both casual dining and upscale sophistication.
For starters, we shared the Cosmic Crab Cakes, served with a roasted jalapeño arugula aioli and topped with tender basil leaves and finely diced jalapeños and red peppers ($8.25).
Soup or salad can be added to your entrée for $2.95. The Gazpacho soup and the Greek salad were both very good. Gazpacho is Spanish in origin and similar to a cold tomato soup blended with a variety of mixed vegetables.
When we got to the entrées, the Satellite Grilled Salmon was grilled to perfection and beautifully served with roasted potatoes and asparagus in a delicious creamy sauce ($15.95).
The Jalapeno Herb Chicken was another excellent dish, accented with a lemon butter jalapeño sauce, sautéed vegetable medley and basmati rice ($9.95). Moist, flavorful chicken topped the delicious vegetables and fluffy rice. The dinner menu offers a wonderful variety of entrees including chicken, fish, pork, ribs, steak, shrimp and enchiladas. Together, the selection promises to satisfy any appetite or taste.
For lunch or a lighter meal, the bistro has a variety of sandwiches and burgers with options ranging from a chicken salad to veggie burgers to Black Angus burgers and salmon burgers. A selection of wraps and tacos are also available. We will be back for lunch soon.
Whether you go for lunch or for dinner, save room for dessert. We highly recommend the Satellite Star. It is a multi-layered chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry chocolate mousse wrapped in a thin sheet of chocolate and topped with whipped cream and berries ($8.95). It was almost too pretty to eat, but we were glad we did because it was fabulous. Satellite offers a dessert special every night, although this one would be hard to beat.
This was a wonderful dining experience with something for everyone. The food was not only good, it was beautifully presented. Hats off to Executive Chef Riah Kuenzi.
